What is the Periodic Call Auction session?
Introduced to control volatility, illiquid stocks are traded during the Periodic Call Auction Session.
There are 6 call auction sessions of 1 hour each conducted in a day. The auction window is structured similar to that of the pre-market session, and is as follows:
- 45 minutes for order placement and modification by investors.
- 8 minutes of order matching and confirmation by the exchanges.
- 7 minutes buffer before the next session.
