Can I use the same funds to trade on the equity and commodity segments?
Yes, the fund balance in your trading account can be used to take positions on both the equity and commodity segments.
As per regulatory requirements regarding peak margin rules effective from 9th May 2023, Geojit is no longer allowed to provide an immediate credit of 80% of the sale value for non-pledged shares. This margin credit will be provided on a best-effort basis on T day after blocking the shares for early pay-in. However, this sale value cannot be considered for margin requirements to take positions in the commodity segment on T day.
100% of the sale value of equity shares will be allowed as margins for both the equity and commodity segments from T+1 (subject to early pay-in of the sold shares).
