Will I get a notice from the Income Tax department regarding the basis of FATCA reporting?
The Income Tax Department follows its own criteria for case selection. There may be cases where the department would want to cross-check data furnished under the FATCA/CRS reporting. Similarly, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the U.S. or tax authorities of other countries may cross-check information submitted as per FATCA/CRS reporting.
