Can investors start SIP in SIFs?
Yes, investors can start Systematic Investment Plans (SIP) in SIFs. SEBI now explicitly allows SIP, SWP, and STP within SIF schemes, giving investors the flexibility to invest gradually instead of contributing the entire amount at once.
However, SIPs do not remove the mandatory minimum investment requirement. Every investor must ensure that their total investment across all SIF strategies within the same AMC reaches ₹10 lakh, as required by SEBI’s Minimum Investment Threshold (MIT).
This means:
- A small SIP installment is allowed.
- As long as the investor’s overall SIF holdings with that AMC are ≥ ₹10 lakh, or will reach that amount over time through SIPs.
