Why Is XIRR Unavailable in My P&L Report?
XIRR (Extended Internal Rate of Return) is a globally accepted method for calculating investment portfolio returns, as it considers the exact dates and amounts of all transactions. If XIRR is not appearing in your Profit & Loss (P&L) report, it could be due to one of several reasons. Please refer to the reason codes and their corresponding explanations below to understand why XIRR may not be available for your account.
| SR NO. | Reason | Explanation |
| 1. | Holding period is less than 90 days. | XIRR is not shown because the holding period is less than 90 days. Returns over very short periods may be misleading. |
| 2. | Holding period is less than 90 days with initial sells trimmed | XIRR is not shown because the holding period is less than 90 days after removing initial sell transactions. Returns over very short periods may be misleading. |
| 3. | Calculated XIRR is less than -95% or greater than +500% | XIRR is outside the allowed range. The calculated annualized return is less than -95% or greater than 500%, so it has been suppressed as an outlier. |
| 4. | Calculated XIRR is less than -95% or greater than +500% with initial sells trimmed | XIRR is outside the allowed range after removing initial sell transactions. The calculated annualized return is less than -95% or greater than 500%, so it has been suppressed as an outlier. |
| 5. | XIRR could not be computed from the transaction pattern. | XIRR could not be calculated for this transaction pattern. Please verify that cash flows include at least one investment outflow and one current value or redemption inflow with valid dates. |
| 6. | XIRR could not be computed even after trimming initial sells. | XIRR could not be calculated after removing initial sell transactions. Please verify that remaining cash flows include valid investment and redemption or holding value entries. |
| 7. | Only buy transactions with zero holdings; valuation unavailable. | XIRR cannot be calculated because the current valuation is missing. Only buy transactions are available and there is no current holding value to complete the calculation. |
| 8. | Missing transactions and having active holdings. | XIRR cannot be calculated because transaction history is missing while active holdings exist. Please provide buy or opening balance transactions to calculate returns. |
| 9. | Missing investment history; holdings cannot be reconciled | XIRR cannot be calculated because only sell transactions are available. Buy or opening investment history is missing, so the holding cannot be reconciled. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 10. | Net position remains negative with active holdings after trimming initial sells. | XIRR cannot be calculated because the net position remains negative even after removing initial sell transactions. Please verify buy, sell, and opening balance data. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 11. | Net position still does not match holdings after trimming initial sells. | XIRR cannot be calculated because the net position does not match the current holding after removing initial sell transactions. Please verify transaction history and current holdings. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 12. | Net position remains zero with active holdings after trimming initial sells. | XIRR cannot be calculated because the net position becomes zero even though active holdings exist, after removing initial sell transactions. Please verify missing buy transactions or holding quantity. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 13. | Positive net position does not match holdings. | XIRR cannot be calculated because the transaction-derived position does not match the current holding. Please verify transactions, corporate actions, and current holdings. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 14. | Negative net position with active holdings. | XIRR cannot be calculated because transactions result in a negative net position while active holdings exist. Please check for missing buy transactions or incorrect sell quantities. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
| 15. | Zero net position with active holdings. | XIRR cannot be calculated because transactions result in zero net position while active holdings still exist. Please check for missing purchases, incorrect sells, or holding data mismatch. PS : Make required entries via Manual Transaction |
