What are the margin/fund requirements for an intraday trade?
The upfront margin requirement for intraday trades varies scripwise, starting at 20% of the transaction value. In other words, you can get up to 5 times leverage on intraday orders.
For example, if you have Rs. 20,000 as margins in your trading account, you will be allowed to take intraday positions of up to Rs. 1 lakh (depending on the share).
Margins for your position can be maintained as either cash or pledged securities.
Scripwise intraday margin requirements can be checked on MyGeojit:
Step 1. Log in to MyGeojit and select Market Data
Step 2. Select Scrips > Intraday Scrips
Step 3. Select the Exchange, Margin Range, etc., as required > Submit
Only certain securities are eligible to be traded intraday.
Where the scrips can be accessed ?
Your scrips can be accessed from MyGeojit. Please follow the below steps :
- Log in to MyGeojit.
- On the top right side, spot 'Ideas' tab.
- In the Ideas page, move towards the left hand side and find 'Scrips' and click on it.
- You will by default land on the Intraday page.
